A cross-channel luxury brand experience

Challenge
After years of managing luxury properties in Cape Town, my client saw an opportunity to expand their services. Beyond property management, they aimed to offer consultancy for overseas buyers seeking second homes in Cape Town. With deep knowledge of the local real estate market, they were well-positioned to fill this gap.
To attract prospective homebuyers, property owners, and luxury travelers, they needed a brand that was not only high-end but also mindful of their South African roots. They approached me to create a new brand identity that captured their vision across both digital and real-world touchpoints.
Approach
The Name and Concept
The first step was helping define their brand and come up with a name. I collaborated with talented writer Sheri Kaufmann to explore multiple options, eventually landing on Kumi Collection—a name chosen for its simplicity, uniqueness, and connection to South African culture.
With the name in place, I moved on to developing the brand concept, visual direction, and logo. Based on their creative brief, I presented three distinct concepts. The direction that resonated most was "Mindful Luxury," reflecting their mission to offer personalized, luxurious travel experiences that honor the environment and local culture.

Kumi Collection
Kumi Collection offers bespoke luxury travel experiences, carefully tailored to each client's unique needs. Blending comfort, ease, and responsible practices, Kumi creates personalized moments—whether exploring local culture or enjoying a Cape Town home. The Kumi brand embodies mindful luxury, with every visual detail, from the refined logo to the muted color palette, exuding understated warmth and exclusivity, inviting clients to experience something truly special.
To bring this vision to life, I designed a sleek, typographic logo that felt premium yet understated, perfect for use across a wide range of applications—from uniforms and vehicles to their website and branded materials.
The logo was paired with a subtle, nature-inspired color palette drawn from the South African landscape. I also selected complementary serif and sans-serif fonts and incorporated natural background patterns, along with imagery showcasing their properties, local nature, and unique travel experiences.

Whether guests want to immerse themselves in local culture, embark on outdoor adventures, or enjoy intimate moments in their Cape Town home, every aspect of the Kumi experience is thoughtfully crafted to align with their unique tastes and needs, while also respecting the environment and supporting local communities.

Offline Branding
I created a cohesive suite of branded materials, including business cards, letterhead, deck templates, storefront signage, video, car wraps, and uniforms. This ensured the brand felt consistent and refined across every touchpoint. A video showcasing their properties on their storefront enticed people walking by.




Online
Extending their brand to the digital realm, I designed their website to showcase their properties and their personalized service offerings, blending aesthetics with user-friendly navigation. The site would need to appeal their various audiences and driving traffic to both their booking page and meeting request form.
